Class Description
Join me in this vibrant real-time acrylic class where we’ll explore the magic of painting bokeh backgrounds—those beautiful, soft-focus backgrounds that add instant depth and atmosphere to your artwork.
This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate artists looking to expand their background techniques. While the tulip is painted as a quick final detail, our main focus is learning how to create stunning bokeh effects using both theory and practical painting methods.
During the Class You Will Learn:
-
what bokeh is and how it works in real-world lighting
-
how to build a soft-focus background that supports your subject
-
the brush techniques and layering process used to create a realistic bokeh effect
-
how to blend colours and values in the background for light and atmosphere
-
how to quickly paint a basic tulip using a palette knife for a bold, textural focal point
By the end of this class, you’ll understand how and when to use bokeh backgrounds to enhance your paintings and give them professional depth—plus, you’ll have a beautiful tulip painting to show for it!
